Assisted Living vs. Nursing Home

An additional distinction between non-residential and other residential buildings covered by the General Property Form involves assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

A nursing home has, as its first priority, patient care; therefore, it is a non-residential business building.

An assisted living facility is considered an other residential building because it is first and foremost a residence and has similar limitations in terms of coverages and deductibles.
