Stakeholders vs. Partners

Every American shares an interest in the safety, security, and reliability of the Nation’s infrastructure. For that reason, we are all stakeholders in the critical infrastructure mission.

A partner, on the other hand, is actively engaged in implementing critical infrastructure protection and resilience programs. This engagement can include participating in work groups or task forces; in planning or other preparedness activities; identifying critical infrastructure assets, systems, or networks as well as dependencies and interdependencies; conducting risk and vulnerability assessments; setting protection priorities; and implementing protective programs.
