Wetlands Classification System: Lacustrine Wetlands
| Lacustrine wetlands generally have the following characteristics:
- Situated in a topographic depression (like a lake) or a dammed river channel
- Lack trees, shrubs, mosses, or lichens – plants tend to be floating or submerged
- Include waters that may be tidal or
non-tidal, but ocean-derived salinity is always less than 0.5 ppt
