Natural Systems Protection

These are actions that minimize damage and losses, and also preserve or restore the functions of natural systems. Actions may include sediment and erosion control or wetlands restoration projects.

Examples include:

  • Stabilizing erosion hazard areas
  • Requiring water conservation during droughts
  • Encouraging conservation easements
