Cabinets and Countertops — 75% to 100% Damaged

Threshold markers:

  • Water level is more than 3 feet above finished floor level
  • Flood duration is longer than 12 hours, prolonged exposure to water and contaminants

Common damage:

  • Replace base cabinets and upper wall cabinets. Water damage and exposure is prolonged
  • Deformation, delamination, and warping of cabinet base drawers and doors
  • Water contains debris and contaminants
  • The countertops will need to be replaced

Whether from flooding or other sources of damage, when there are impacts to both the wall and lower cabinets in a home, the damage is likely to be on the higher end of the percent damaged in the over 75% range.
