Percent Damaged

Assessing and recording Percent Damaged is the most critical part of the assessment, as it is the basis for determining whether a structure has been substantially damaged.

The percent damaged is the key piece of data that you, as the assessor, input to calculate the ultimate dollar damage to the structure. Most of the other information that goes into the calculation is either built-in or derived from building attribute data.

This example shows the Percent Damaged for the structural elements of a one-story, slab-on-grade, stud-framed residence.

The Element Percentages tab in the SDE Tool with 5 columns shown as follows: Element, Percent Damaged (emphasized), Element Percentage, Element Cost, and Damage Values. Below are 12 rows of Elements as follows (with numeric data showing under each respective column across each row): Foundation, Superstructure, Roof Covering, Exterior Finish, Doors and Windows, Cabinets and Countertops, Floor Finish, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliances, Interior Finish, and HVAC.
