Standing Seam or Sheet Metal?

Standing seam roofs should not be confused with common sheet metal roof covering, which is not composed of interconnected crimped panels.

Instead, common sheet metal roofs are often made of corrugated sheet metal that has simply been laid down on top of the roof superstructure and nailed down or otherwise connected. For these types of roofs, standing seam should not be selected.

The cost and style of common sheet metal roofs are more akin to a shingle roof.
