ICS Feature: Manageable Span of Control

Manageable span of control is key to effective and efficient incident management. Supervisors must be able to effectively manage, supervise, and control their subordinates, as well as communicate with and manage all resources under their supervision. For any supervisor, span of control: Should range from three and seven subordinates. Optimally does not exceed five subordinates. The ICS modular organization can be expanded or contracted to maintain an optimal span of control.
