Telecommunicators who are deployed to a disaster area may face resentment from resident telecommunicators.
The resentment factor may be challenging and not well understood for the deployed telecommunicator who is often anticipating an accepting and relieved telecommunicator reception. However, telecommunicators must remember many resident telecommunicators may feel an obligation to remain at their "post" until all calls for service have been resolved, may feel the deployed telecommunicator does not know the communication (radio/telephone) system, the surrounding area, or the community well enough to assume the position; or the resident telecommunicator may feel as if he/she is being "replaced" rather than supported. These emotional perceptions are difficult to adequately predict and may not be present in all cases.
