Executive Orders, Laws, and Regulations

American Indian Religious Freedom Act	Provides access to the full text of the AIRFA which establishes a policy of protecting and preserving the right of individual Native Americans to express and exercise their traditional religions.
Antiquities Act of 1906	Provides access to the full text of the Antiquities Act which authorizes the President to declare Federal lands as national monuments for the purpose of protecting sites and objects of antiquity.
Archaeological Resources Protection Act	Provides access to the full text of ARPA which protects archaeological resources and sites which are on public and Native American lands.
Historic Sites Act of 1935	Provides access to the full text of the Historic Sites Act which provides procedures for designation, acquisition, administration, and protection of historic sites.
National Historic Preservation Act	Provides access to the full text of NHPA which was designed to ensure that Federal agencies consider historic properties in their project planning and execution.
Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act	Provides access to the database of NAGPRA which established a means for Native Americans to request the repatriation of human remains and other cultural items held by Federal agencies or Federally assisted museums or institutions.
NAGPRA (Laws, Regulations and Guidance)	Provides a number of resources are available to assist museums, agencies, and Native American communities in carrying out NAGPRA.

Advisory Council on Historic Preservation	The ACHP web site includes an informative section titled "Working with Section 106." These publications are designed to aid Section 106 users as they apply the regulations, including related rules, policy issues, and guidance documents.
FEMA's Historic Preservation and Cultural Resources Program	This web site provides an overview of FEMA's Historic Preservation and Cultural Resources program.
Heritage Preservation Services	Included on this site is information and guidance on many topics such as Civil War battlefields, historic landscapes, GIS/GPS technologies, the Certified Local Government program, Tribal Preservation, and historic building technology.
Historic American Building Survey/Historic American Engineering Record	This site includes a searchable database consisting of measured and interpretive drawings, photographs, written historical and descriptive data, and original field notes for more than 37,000 historic structures and sites.
National Historic Landmarks Program	The NHL site includes a searchable database of National Historic Landmarks as well as answers to commonly asked questions regarding NHLs.
National Park Service	The NPS site includes a section titled "Links to the Past." This part of the site contains vast amounts of information on American history and culture. Also included is an extensive park guide designed to help users find a specific park based on their interests or based on a geographical region.
National Register of Historic Places	The National Register site includes a searchable database of the nearly 75,000 listings that make up the National Register.
Secretary of Interior's Standards on Preservation and Treatment of Historic Properties	This site provides access to the Standards on Preservation and Treatment of Historic Properties. These standards are intended to promote responsible preservation practices to help protect irreplaceable cultural resources.

Archaeological Institute of America	The Institute's web site is committed to preserving the world's archaeological resources and cultural heritage.
Heritage Preservation	Consult this site to access advice and guidance on the proper care and maintenance of historic documents, books and archives, works of art, photographs, architecture, monuments, and historic objects.
National Trust for Historic Preservation	The National Trust is a historic preservation advocacy organization. Their web site includes a list of historic sites and information on issues in historic preservation.
